Cribs

Our new Korean apartment:

As small as it may be, I don't think we'd choose to have it any other way. Having a bigger apartment would just require having more stuff to fill the space. With less room we're forced to evaluate the necessity of our possessions and keep only what we truly value.

So far, anyway, the space hasn't been an issue. We get a lot of sunlight and "fresh" air, which is as much as we could ask for. In the end, though, we don't plan on spending a lot of time in the apartment - too many adventures await.

  1. One question springs to mind, after your cursory intro to the multi-purpose bathroom/shower. I see the wisdom of having freeedom to just blast away everywhere with the shower wand. How do you keep the towels and TP dry???

Other than that, it looks like an efficient abode. Neat.

  2. well we keep them on the other side of the bathroom, so they get minimal splashage. but the toilet paper also has a metal cover that prevents frontal splash. we also keep a towel for drying off the toilet after a shower. the one drawback to a bathroom liberated of walls: it's not as convenient to use a wet toilet once you're out of the shower as when you're in it.

  3. Hey Jonny-
I am a friend of Heather Rowell's who just returned from the states after a year of teaching in Korea. (at a camp outside of Seoul) Sounds like you are getting along just fine- but if you have any questions about the Seoul area or things to see in Korea, let me know. I also taught with a girl last year that had taught in Pohang for 2 years- so I could connect you two if you have questions about your location. Good luck and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

    Hi Jonny,

Wow, that's actually a pretty big apartment for Korea. I have two doors total in mine, including the entrance door. Your fridge and washer are the same as mine, and for the washer, I find it confusing too. I just sort of press buttons, and it washes.

  5. Haha that's actually been my technique too. I press buttons until the "45" appears, which I can only assume is the wash time. It seems to get the job done.
